Professor Gil Eyal holds Niklas Luhmann Visiting Professorship 2024

The Niklas Luhmann Visiting Professorship 2024 will be held by Gil Eyal, Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. Professor Gil Eyal is Director of The Trust Collaboratory at Columbia University.

Professor Gil Eyal from Columbia University in New York will be the next Niklas Luhmann Visiting Professor in the summer semester 2024 (May-June). Gil Eyal is Professor of Sociology and Director of The Trust Collaboratory at Columbia University. Among his recent books are The Crisis of Expertise (Polity, 2019) and (with Tom Medvetz, editors) The Oxford Handbook of Expertise and Democratic Politics (OUP 2023). He is currently leading several research projects concerned with the trust methods employed by Long Covid patients and by people interacting with Artificial Intelligence.

Gil Eyal will conduct a PhD seminar on the topic "Trust an Mistrust in Science, Experts and Expert Systems" On 26 June, Gil Eyal will give his university lecture on "Mistrust in Numbers: The Crisis of Expertise and the Nature of Trust".
